ren19 1400cc mk1 when turning steering to left get a cracking like sound sometimes it can be a heavier thud type noise not there altime this noise.
also noticed when turned with a fair bit of lock on then strightened up car steering wheel seems to want to stay in turned position any help for new member thanks ps am aware left hand strut has spring broke at very bottom but been like this a while again suggestions what to look for |

I have driven for years with broken springs schakal whats your point?
Anyway I had a similar problem on my old 1.4 as well. I could turn the wheel so far then let the wheel go and if I was going slow enough it would keep turning until it hit full lock. On my car it was a trackign issue.
The cracking and it may also cause the wheel to stick in position might be a bottom balljoint, dodgy strut bearing or a track rod end. Check them for signs of leakage etc or torn gaiters. |
