Hiya,
I'm omar (aka little oms)...
I've traded in my ol' Clio 1.2 to get myself a K plate R19 16v.
I pick her up this w/e....
....but she's an MOT fail: Faulty ABS unit - so I either fit another one... or remove ABS altoghether.
Can anyone help?
Ta,
Oms! |

Welcome n00b!
K reg could be either Bosch or Bendix ABS.
If it's Bosch, it's not too hard to swap the unit out.
If it's Bendix, forget it, may as well ditch the system. it's crap anyway.
How much did you get her for?
piccies! |

Thanks for the replies.
I'll have to find out whether it's Bosch/Bendix.
Worst case cenario, is it easy to gut the system? ? (oh dear what have I let myself in for!)
No pics as of yet.
Shame... everything was immaclate, then it failed MOT and was left for 6/7 months in a breakers.
A few tiny bits of rust have appeared, nothing major.
£400 (I hope that's not too much): electrics / leather / unmodified / 100k
And boy, she's a go-er. |

Look down in the engine bay under the coolant expansion tank...
If you see something that looks like this down there:
Than it's Bosch and you can fix/replace it quite easily.
If it looks nothing like that down there but has a thing with an accumulator sphere jobby on it, then it's Bendix and you're entering a world of pain to get rid of it. Engine has to come out.
However, you say the car is a goer, which suggests that the brakes do work, but just without ABS function. That probably means it's Bosch, as Bendix just lets the pedal go to the floor when it dies and takes you with it. |

Many thanks for your kind replies folks.
Such a shame: I went to collect today (only paid a deposit yesteday) - it is indeed a Bendix system... so I had to walk away.
The body was immaculate.
I got him down to £300, but sadly I don't have the tools to remove the engine.... plus I'm sure I can get one WITH MOT and Tax for not much more.
I'll be back!!! |

I take it you know what CCJ stands for boy?
