My TD rusted in exactly the same place for its last MOT, managed to get away with not dropping the axle though.

well i've not seen how 'bad' it is, last time i was under the car i did not really pay any attention to the rear end as it was all engine work, only the rear wheels have been removed was to swop the 15's for the 17's lol

i will get it up on the jacks sat afternoon, get the wheels and skirts off and see how bad it really is, get some pics and maybe danlp can do me a reasonable quote on getting it all welded up

and oh also need to check why it failed on the handbrake lol

I thought that car was 'mint' and the ph1 a shit heap.

Ph1 must have been pretty fucked if it was worse than that.

Thats inside out rust not outside in so its corroded through a lot of other stuff to get there. Take the trim panel off on the inside and I bet you will see daylight.

mint yes, like a polo, has a hole in it hehe

i dunno, when i had it up in the air doing the engine etc, i did not really pay much attention to the rear end, i dont know why he failed the inner wings, i had a good look under there in the daylight today and banged about and they seem solid to me, no holes or anything.
tomorrow i take off the side skirts and rear wheels to check out the rest.
