megane ph1 immobiliser.

Congratulations on an excellent site full of great info.
Have intermittent fault with immob. system not working with plip keys.
Have resynched keys several times succesfully using the info on this site but system always fails again, sometimes after a few days, once went for 4 months before packing up.
Local dealer says main immob. control unit is faulty and wants Â£600 to supply fit and reprograme the system.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

if the receiver isn't at fault what the dealer said.

ALso your not pressing the button on the key are you? When your away from the key and press the button or kids do it then it will need re-synched.

Is it possible to fit a secondhand immobiliser control unit.
Have been told that a control unit from another megane wont work as the units are matched to the cars they are originally fitted to.

If i can get 2 keys, the receiver and control unit will this allow me to enter the donor vehicle resynching code and get my car goin

you need the engine ECU and the whole dash really as well for a simple job. Otherwwise renault will need to program it to the dash.

to save starting another thread about plip key`s i will just tag onto this one.

after reading chris`s artical (pure genius as usual)

here goes,, just aquired a megane 1998 ph 1,
key does not work for the immobiliser. (so have to enter code every time)Also does not do the central locking.(not to bothered).

can`t find the arial around the barrel for the immobiliser.(is there any pics on here)
also the central locking does not work even when enter code, central locking button, plip key three times at receiver.

light on the key does work when key is depressed. will check the beam with digicam tonight.

(i think the key is knackered, after reading all the thread)

there won't be an aerial as its a ph1 with the rollign code.

You need to resynch the key to get it to work.

It may have nothing to do with this but the central locking does not work correctly.( only seems to give half a thump ) and when trying to resync it also only gives half a thump. (does not lock ,then unlock)

keep pressing it when re-synching it. Have you checked the receiver for corrosion?

yep dry as a bone. and good contacts.

key is giving off light under digicam.

so must be on the receiver side.

or could still be the key (has been know that it will need reprograming).

put the code in then use the re-synching method I put in the how 2 article!

Thats how its done, thats how renault or anyone else will do it.

five wire? 1 live 1 earth 1 pulse other 2 ???
