some tv's have a standby warning on them.
if you leave the tv on standbye for a while it will flick on then off... Just to piss you off so you get your ass out of bed and turn it off properly. |

Bull. Working in a TV shop with a couple of engineers of some 52 years combined knowlege I can safely say that if your set does that it be fooked.
Also every TV bought in the UK requires the retailer to inform TV licensing so they have it on the computa wether or not it's turned on. |

No they don't know if it's turned on or not. They just know if you have a license or not. If they turned up at your house and the BBC wasn't tuned in yopu still get done.
It only gives them a guide to go on, if you buy a tele and you already have a license no probs. Like if you move out and buy yourself a set then it's in your name and not your parents it's fine, if it's a different address they know you need to buy your licence. Basically over complicated system that only works when they can be arsed to do something about it. |
