Well, the alternator still hasn't arrived and time has run out.
I need my car for work on monday.
Looking at the broken alternator i can see where it has failed.
One of the brushes has somehow heated up and melted through the top of it's housing and the socket looks as though it has melted aswell.
Why or how this has happened i don't know.
What i need to know is, will the brushes and regulator from a 1.2 or 1.4 energy engine fit?
This is the faulty one i've taken off.

Yeah, didn't have time to wait for the reply so i went ahead and tried anyway . . . . it paid off.
Just finished now and sitting back to a nice roast duck dinner.
All is well!
