And the battery light is comming on very dimly...
Could this be a short?
Also is the alternator earthed through its bracket or should there be a wire from the other terminal to the engine/body? |

yes it could be a short and the earth is the small black wire that goes to the VE- (or B- depending on alt make) terminal and held on with an 8mm nut whilst the pos is VE+ (B+) and has a red wire and held on with a 10mm nut. |
