had a bit of time after worl today and as the sun was out i decided to give the r9 a good engine bay clean ,anyway got the ignition module out after all as it was wet . brought it home for a deeper inspection and dry up .
and taking the bit out (which i believe is some sort of map sensor) ,i realised the cable going into it has come out(ripped apart ) as well
how would this affect the running of the car first of all ???
here are some pics of the damage
where i took it of from the module
the sensor itself

its not a map sensor, thats the ignition vacuum capsule. Changes the timign depending on load.
Basically it will be running at full advance thus probably pinking and running lean.
Plug it back in and you shoudl get more power and a better running engine. |

that pictures are crap ,here are some better ones in the daylight.
now the cable going into the capsule thing came out as you can see in the first pic chris
and it looks like it came out off that black round thing on this picture
i also tried to turn the allen bolt to open the thing to see whats going on the inside but the whole thing surrounding the bolt turns which i believe disturbed some sort of vacum seal . |
