hi,was wondering if any1 has had a turbo conversion done on a 19 16v on this site?saving up for mines hopefully for the summer jst want to know the pro's and con's first,as in can the F7P handle it the extra power?any help would be great.

errrrrrrrrrrrr hope youve got patients mate,y do u want to turbo it anyhow? theres other less dearer methods to get sum grunt out of it

dont really know y,it would be like a project in a way,and 19 16v's are rare round this way let alone a turbo'd 1.wot (I mean what really) "methods" would you do?

If you want a sleeper or are set on turboing a 19, avert your eyes.

However if you still are thinking about it, count the cost of doing the modification, subsequent increased running costs, reduced reliability, and more than likely, some shortcuts taken along the way that make it a very hairy car to drive.

Alternatively, buy the car that does most of what you want as standard. This has the following benefits:

High HP from the factory, therefore more potential to reach higher HP if you take the notion.
Will be a lot more reliable than anything people have modified.
The brakes will be made for the car's weight and power, you won't need to touch them.
Same story for the suspension.
Chances are that the steering rack will be quicker, thus helping you there, again, straight from the factory.
The tyres will be the correct dimensions for the weight and HP of the car.
Probably be easier (or similar) to insure than a modified car.
Won't bite you going around a corner one day, because the boost came on too sharply, or the shocks aren't quite right and caused you to create a gap in the hedge, as the HP is above what the chassis are designed to handle. You fill in the blanks.

If you were to do this conversion correctly (not that I know much about it), I reckon it would cost you as much as e.g. a GTO or similar, and wouldn't be half the car.

This is just my outlook on the whole thing - Buy something close to what you want, then drive it.

However, i'm still building my turbo 19 lol but i have a 'factory' 2.0 turbo car too

You would be in very good position to enlighten us to both sides of the coin.
Speak for we are listening...

Having said all that, there is a certain appeal and personalisation that is in a modified car, that isn't there in a factory car.
Certainly reading about modifications is more interesting.

see all my friends have said the same thing buy another car thats first in the first place but it would be nice to have something different from a scooby or wotever,besides the valver is of the road for a year anyway.i must admit it is gonna be a dear conversion.especially seeing bb performances price list

Well like i said, i have my own 'factory' fast car so i don't have to make my 19 super reliable

Not cheap tho, i've spent thousands!

hae you nearly finished your's?i sent bb performance before and they said they dont supply th intercooler and turbo hosing or sumthing.where did you go for all your turbo kit?is it a phase 1 or 2 youre doing the turbo conversion on?

turbo and manifold from BB and err the rest from ebay near enough lol

chet have you got performance throttle boddies or just running the original?im also thinking of getting a full engine rebuild first,run the engine in then putting the turbo conversion on.that way everything is solid.i know someone to help with the rebuild and got someone lined up for the gearbox rebuild.we will need to get a wee drag race at a quarter mile strip some where once there finished,lol

cheers.never used ma cc on the net before so never bothered with the pay pal thing.
