hi all i own a 92 ph2 19 and the circlip has popped out for the 3rd time first all my own fault spinning wheels,second wet weather wheels slip pop goes the circlip 150 miles after i got it done in renault 140euros(thats when i found retro renault knowledge base )not going to renault again did it myself easy 60 miles later i pull away from my driveway and pop out she goes again no wheelspin only feathered the accalerator this time anyway gonna try it again (circlip)but the question is i have a 5 turbo box dont know what condition its in but the piece that the tripod joint on the driveshaft goes into will that go into the 16v gearbox will it make much difference if it does,any help is greatly appriciated as there is not a sinner in ireland i know of who can help me. |

wont make any difference if you put the 5GTT tripod thing in as its the circlip grovve in the gearbox casing being worn which means it keeps popping out.
Change the whole gearbox for the 5GTT one, a lot of GTTs run far more power than a stock 16v and you dont hear of them spitting out the circlip. |

thanks for that is there anyway i could see if the gearbox is ok cause its been sittin in my shed for the best part of 2 years and i got it off the lad i bought the 5 off as a spare i might be breakin the 5 as the body is in bits filler everywhere different subject alltogether so i could take that box cause i know its good |

stick it in gear and turn the input shaft, the diff should rotate nicely in all gears.
other than that fingers crossed, they are normally ok.
Unless you pour a load of rusty water out of it! |

thanks chris your a wealth of info i looked through some of your post you really know your stuff by the way im a Chris h too lol ill try it and see gonna do this clip today and see how she goes then im going down the pub to watch footy arsenal v chelsea come on the gunners then i have to find someone to change the gearbox cause i dont think i could do it myself not got that much knowhow |

lol yes its funny in meath they all call me chris but when i go back to dublin its all alright git alright gitzy the boys in meath havent got a clue what it means its strictly a dublin thing damn its raining now so ill have to leave it till tomorrow morning or tues as im off work how do you put pics up i found a few and registered wit photobucket |
