hi all..... just got a clio as a play car....its a 93 clio 1.4rt....
the gearbox is knackered so ive just drove 150 miles to collect a s/h gearbox for it and found it wont fit....anyone have any idea why it dont...
code on tag on box in car is jb1043 and new box is jb1138....
driving me nuts...please help !!! |

well when you say doesnt fit, how do you mean? the input shaft wont line up etc? |

the bellhousing is different where the starter goes...i havnt actually tried fitting it to the car as its visibly different...from what ive read on here im guessing the box i brought is off a later clio with the alloy sump..mines a tin sump....thats the only thing i can think of.. |

It doesnt matter if its a tin or ally sump, are the bell housings changeable? i know on some boxes they are. |

Yea, afaik they havent changed the side of the starter even on the new clio's |

how different? It should fit.
The tin/ally sump doesn't apply to a 1.4
The box may be a from a new mk2 clio 1.2 or soemthing but even then it should fit. |
