sounds like the oil pumps dodgy or the oil filter has no drain back valve.

So how much am I looking at for an oil pump roughly? Is that a bastard of a job or fairly simple?

Had the oil & filter changed a few weeks ago Chris, and this is all since then. I ain't gonna go out and change the oil pump just cuz you said it might be that, so don't worry! I am just curious as to how expensive it is and how much of a bugger of a job it is. Like if it's £10 and it's piss easy, then I might aswell do it to see if it helps! But if it's £100 and a bitch of a job, then I will only do it if I absolutely have to like

Yeah I agree with you there Chris. I'll change to that comma lite oil next time I change it, and then see how it goes. From what you lot have been saying, that should solve the problem! Very Happy

Just changed the oil & oil filter, and now I'm using the comma lite stuff. Seems pretty damn good! First start after the change, smooth as anything. I haven't heard a single tappet yet! Very Happy

The real test will be tomorrow morning starting it in the cold after it's been sat all night. But yeah, cheers guys, seems like it might've done the trick! Very Happy

Car seems so much smoother too Very Happy It's probably all in my mind, but hey!

Ahh crap. Still tappety Crying or Very sad

Ah well, who knows. It does go after about 5 mins of the engine running tho, so I'm not worrying too much about it. If it was a constant tapping that wouldn't go away, then I think I'd start worrying!
