Hi, I haven't been on the forum for a while, mainly due to the R19 being off road for the last couple of months. (The tax ran out and I have a new job with a car)
Anyway I put it in for an MOT yesterday and it failed on the following points (car is a phase1 16v chamade with 71K on the clock)
Front coil spring damaged
Rear discs and one front disc pitted excessively (could this be due to the car standing for 3 months?)
Passenger wiper blade needs replacing
I am gutted to be honest because it was my daily driver for 2 years and never skipped a beat.
This makes it difficult to know what to do.
I have brand new coilovers in the the garage which I never got round to fitting so I could put these on.
4 new discs are gonna cost around £100
New test = £45
So for around £160 (including wiper) I should be able to get it through the MOT ready for sale. But that means I need to sell her for at least £160 to get my money back.
On the other hand I could probably sell the coilovers and sell rest of car as a whole for spares or repair. (I don't have the time or space to strip it).
What would you do? I am gutted to be honest because it seems far too good a car to scrap. The interior is near mint.

fix it.
wiper blade 3 quid from a factors. or nick one from the company car then moan about it and get it replaced free, or take fromt eh company car for the mot then swap back.
Snapped springs are common, know anyone close with a 19? Doesn't have to be 16V, swap the struts to get he ticket.
bnrakes, use it a bit to get them cleaned up, but what they stated isn;t a fail item. Ask him to show you where in the handbook its a failure, they have to pass the efficiency test thats all, they can advise on condition but not fail it if they work as they should. |

Couple of hundred quid probably.
Biggest problem is that since I moved out I don't have any room or much spare time to fix the car.
Thanks for the advice Chris, I have to say that when I drove the car to the test centre the brakes felt fine. |
