Anyone come across a 50mm spacing wheel hub for Renault Clio.
It's from a Phase 2 RT 1.4 - Mine has snapped in a press, I went to the breakers and seen three clios and cannot for the life of me find a matching hub, mine looks a lot thinner than all the other ones. |

Thats what I was thinking; am I right the spacing is measured from the center of one bolt to the other (suspension strut holes) |

yes, 52 and 54 only.
measure from the top of one hole to the top of the other to remove the guesswork |

Cheers Chris, really really gratefull for your help.
I will remeasure with another ruler.
But I find it so strange that after looking at three other clios 4 including my old 1.2 all the hubs are diffrent, if it is 52mm are they the rarer size? |

Yeah Chris the rule was out I measured with a tape measure it came back 52mm so I guess it is 52mm
But surley by law of averages one of the four Clios would have 52mm, three were mk1 phase 1 1.2s and iirc one was phase 2 1.4 lowend model as it had non color coded bumpers.
Grrr bloody french, who else would make another hub 2mm diffrent from the other
Any idea how much it'd cost for a Renault dealer and would the bearing come pressed?
I looked on GSF but they dont have them, i dont mind paying whatever as its a matter of ergency |

Do you know if I'd feel any benifit (Apart from having four wheels again lol) on 16v front shocks and hubs
I still don't understand why my 1.4 has 52mm spacing and all the other Clio's I checked out has 54mm
Does that indicate they've all got better suspensions as to be honest my current 1.4 suspension is a lot smoother than my 1.2 which has 54mm basically what I'm getting at rather than it being a right pain in the ass can you read anything perfomance wise into spacing diffrence? |

the hubs were basically on a big pallet at the production line, so some got the 52 and others the 54.
the 54 is by far more popular.
the hub flange is also different between the 2 as are the bearings.
a new hub, bearing and flange from ren is about 250 quid.
changing to 16V gear means the 54mm spacing and better suspension, it will be a rougher ride though. |

250 quid! fook that.
Anyone know where online companys or preferably offline companys so I can get it quicker will sell hubs?
GSF don't seem to do them on their catalouge or website. |

Hi Chris, cheers mate will do.
One other thing, I'm keeping my options open here. I lifted the bonnet on the 1.2 and 1.4 my 1.2 seems to look diffrent in regards to the strut bolts the 1.4 bolt sits flush on top of a rubber but the 1.2 bolt sits in a rubber groove or it may be the other way round lol
But will they both fit each other just bolt on? |

I don't beilve it, finally I'm back on the road
Went down the scrapies and picked up a suspension from a 1.2 and the otherside from a 1.4 as the other 1.2 one was leaking.
Got two 54mm hubs too, rinced me of £70 in all but can't say it's not worth it. Took a gamble on the hubs but the bearings are good.
Thanks a lot Chris and everybody else in my other post, don't know what I'd done without you.
...Probably be £250 lighter if I went the Renault Stealer route |
