righty since iain killed my new Asus motherboard he had to get me another, the shop were out of the asus ones ( ) he got me a crappyASRock mopther board.
This thing only has 2 ddr slots so can only take 2 gig to the asus 3 gig.
Anyway the processor was the fault it would seem.
It was an AMD Athlon 2200, now the only spare I had is an AMD Athlon 800 lol its pish.
So having a look at the price list I see this
Bundle deal
ATHLON 3100 XP bundle
processor + heatsink and fan + PC Chips 848 ALU
£98.70
I assume thats a mother board included?
if so poo.
Only other processors I can see on the list to suit are
AMD Sempron 2800+ 63BIT 754 <palmero> £63.39
AMD Duron 800Mhz 128k SKT A £26.97.
The duron is the same as the one in it I sassume and Iain said something about avoiding the 64 bit ones or summat.
Any help appreciated! |

ddr is the new form of mem blue slots nuthin to do with processor get a replacement processor same speed cpu can be overclocked but then become unstable if done.also i would say prices u quoted dont include motherboard as chips is regard to what chipset is on the board itself eg via appollo hope this helps. |

yes I knwo ddr is the memory, the point I was making is this new board can only go to 2 gig, the old one to 3 gig. Currently 0.5gig ddr and it needs more.
Just checked the bundle (the 100 quid one) and the pc chips thing IS a motherboard, should have got that really. |

well thats a good price then if motherboard included as well. having less mem wont hurt although you can never have enough memis more importent to smooth running thenprocessor speed.im running a 3oomhz processor with bags of mem on win98se which is better then xp which is due to be replaced anytime. youll have to buy a better board are mix ddr with sd ram. |
