tip guys, if you want a better gear box chuck on a 1.9 turbo diesel gear box. otherwise known as the JB5.
ratio is the same in 1st 2nd 3rd then in 4th and 5th the ratios step it up a lot!!! 130 in 4th!!! better econ in 5th.
lower revs are kinder on the engine and fuel econ goes up as well. i discovered this by accident when the scrappie only had a turbo diesel
i have since learnt that you should up rate the clutch due to the extra torque.
my plan is to increase the bhp so that i can have the gits that we meet at lights and on motorways. my dream is to turbo my 1.8 F16 ie.
with regards to from scratch 19. mine would be chain driven! f##king

why would you want to? It won't give you much better economy, need to drop down on hills etc. |

just for the fact in 5th the revs are sooo high that cant be good for fast road driving, not that we can do it for much longer |

they are not high.
the 19's ratios were actually chosen by a very competant individual, they are bang on for not only good economy but also for performace. |
