Was waiting at the front of the cue at the traffic lights at a box junction the lights were red.
Lights turned amber/red, I'm not going to lie here. I crept forward slightly. My front wheels must have just been over the white line before turning Green. Got flashed from behind.
Parked up and walked back to see a fixed traffic light camera behind me and one on the other side of the road, I'm wondering will I get done for it?
Will they be able to tell I was edging forward rather than running the red?
Are they intended to really catch drivers who blatantly run a red or a money making scheam, i.e if you so much as tickle the edge of the white line you'll get a fine?
Also I'm wondering if it could even see my reg, bare in mind it was flashed from behind me, I'm in a MK1 Clio meaning my plate is on the rear bumper so really low down and as I was at the front of the cue there was cars sitting on my arse.
Really worrying about this as I can't be doing with the 3 points. |

If the amber had come on then you are allowed to go, you don't have to wait for it to turn green. |

did it flash once or twice?
and sorry JB, you are meant to wait until it has changed from Amber to Green before you can pull away |

if there were cars behind you chances are it wouldn;t see your plate, they are for people jumping lights, not people creeping forward, the camera facing you would be for traffic on the opposite side, the picture they are after is of you actually in the boxed area chances are you'll be ok. |

you're joking? whats the point in the amber then? may as well do what the yanks do and just go from red to green...
stupid country.....another really annoying thing is when lights change at crossroads in the dead of night and you are just sitting there for no reason....surely with technology these days cameras can be clever enough to realise there is no traffic...as we know they do detect traffic to make lights change.
hatred i feel for the designers of these things. |

the amber serves as a warning, as in prepare to stop for the red light or prepare to move off for the green light |

From the Highway code
RED means 'Stop'. Wait behind the stop line on the carriageway
RED AND AMBER also means 'Stop'. Do not pass through or start until GREEN shows
AMBER means 'Stop' at the stopline. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident
GREEN means you may go on if the way is clear. Take special care if you intend to turn left or right and give way to pedestrians who are crossing |

Yeah it was Red and Amber, Come on guys some of you scare me I'm 17 and I know Red and Amber means get ready to go not go, didn't stop me though
To be honest I only noticed one flash like I said I hardly crept forward at all, bonnet over the white line job if anything, will appeal if I get a NIP but hopefully won't come to that
A point I'd use in my letter of appeal would be why am I receiving the same penaulty (3 points and 60 squid) for edging forward not actually coming into contact with the junction, than someone who blatantly runs a red light would receive. |

Thats what I thought.
I think if you were really far forward from the light it would be seen as jumping a red but if you have only creeped over the line you shouldn't get done for anything.
