car started doing this today. left indicator works as normal, but the right one goes ten to the dozen. Anyone know why it might be doing this? |

Obviously you've never had a front or rear indicator bulb go then mate?
That'll be why! Stick your hazards on and have a wander round the car |

It's actually a requirement for cars to have an audible intecator noise for this purpose and also if the indicators have been left on. |

I was always told that if your indicator went 10 to the dozen it was because your wheels had fallen off.

a bulb has blown.
Also though intresting enough the wrong wattage bulbs can make them flash quicker to. |

a friend of mine has a brand new megane...one day ppl kept cursing her and she didnt know why...turns out one of her indicators wasnt working but they kept ticking at the normal rate....not too clever |

It sounds like older cars like the 19 probably use a primitive system based on the one we were taught in physics at school - a bimetalic strip - and newer ones like the megane have it all computer controlled instead, hence why the indicators don't speed up when a bulb blows. Kinda computerisation for computerisations sake if you ask me, and not very useful - how are you supposed to know your indicators are blown?? |
