0-60's

the other night whilst out I decided to see what the heap was capable of.

0-60, this was from a standstil to 65 on the clock which was around 6800rpm which is around an actual 60mph.

So told her to set the phone to stop watch then for here to say go then me to tellher to stop it.

Managed 6.71 seconds twice in a row.

19 seconds in 5th from 40 - 60 on a slight inclinebut only 4 seconds in 3rd.

Need to try a few more runs.

I think the cars as slow as but the firgures seem to say other wise.

Will try a few runs and average them out at some point.

Anyway has anyone else tried? And what did they get?

0-60 in 3.2 sec's....ok, i'm telling fibs. Motors still parked up with busted box! Hope to pick up another one from "Reno1916v" this sat.

Right ive been out in the beast and got a mate to help and took down a couple of times. a couple of things must be taken into consideration the first being the lack of tread on my tyres and the engine timing but we still got no bad times oh and the ground was damp. i done three 0-60's they were 6.57, 6.48 and 6.42. i should actually be honest i done four 0-60's but the first took 11.30 because i sunk the boot a bit to aggresively and spun on the spot for a few secs Laughing

i had to go on the M8 for the next tests and got 8 seconds from 40-60 in fifth and 60-100 was acheived in a whisker over 9 seconds. i cant wait to get new tyres again there was a couple of times tonight where i thought my m8 was going to have a seizure after a couple of aquaplaning incidents, really my tyres have to be seen to be believed if the feds pulled me over and saw them i would get locked up for putting such a leathal weapon on the frog and toad Twisted Evil

so how come your all gettin way better than the book figures? ive never heard of a std(ish) valver being 0-60 in less than 6.5secs...thats better than claimed for the 3.0 V6 clio!

the 40-60 one....do u cruise at 40 constantly then just put the pedal down and start or are you accelerating and as you pass 40 startt the clock...cos obviously the latter will be quicker cos of the momentum surely?

will try mine out when i find a straight bit of road...swansea is a bit hilly...and usually wet lol.

40 to 60 is sitting at 40 on a light cruise.

I need to try a few more runs when I have petrol.

I also need front tyres, in 2k miles the inner edges are through to the metal wire!

I got a timed 0-60 run of 6.88 using one of those gtech acceleromters (if thats how u spell it!)

what rev's and how you feeding the clutch in to get these 0-60. I found 3k then ease the clutch up just so your moving A small dip down on the clutch so it sliping, while putting a little more gas on to build rev back up around 4K, then just droping the clucth give me a good start. All done quick tho; when you do it

I was revving it a little higher than 4k I think and just slipped the clutch in nicely so it didnt bog down once fully engaged.

Smelt feckin orrible, didn't care at the time if I knakered it or not Smile

Still, done at least 2k miles since and no problems Smile

I've tried some runs 0-100 (km/h that is, equals 0-60mph) with my standard F3P-engine... Not exactly as fast as you guys Laughing

Infact im struggling to get it below 10seconds Sad

God I want a 16v ...

Well it takes the red ned shed a while, but it's about 11-12 secs the last time I tried, which was with those 13" alloys it had. Not really accurate though, as I had a fat bloater at the side of me timing it so he'd of slowed it right down!

What power u lot running? im only doin 6 - 6.5 seconds to 60, and thats with 180bhp, 172lbs/ft and 880kg! but in 3rd gear

any official or 1/4 mile times? should be doing pretty impressive 1/4 miles if u guys are doin 6.5ish to 60!

remember Evis the 19's box in ph1 form gets to 67mph in 2nd.

With that 3rd gear change thats 0.5 secs down so you if your lucky migh be in the high 5's with the right box.

But I am currently down on power with a cack induction kit and a hollowed out cat which is costign me further omph.

So I dunno 95bhp as a comfortable underestimate.

the 6.7 was with with 95bhp??

iv got a poop 6400 limiter at the moment, which is bein sorted asap! hence the 3rd gear

but the car does 0-100 in 14-15 secs (13 seconds if u go by the speedo on the car)

that 0.5 secs for a gear change is what im wanting to hear tho! cos at the mo its managed 3 x 14.1 1/4 miles with a 5th gear change 15 yards before the line! i reckon if could stop in 4th should be at least 0.2 quicker would u say? (im just tryin to make a good benchmark here lol)

anything sub 7 secs is good shit tho!

well 0.5 for a gearchange is abotu right, obviously if the synchros dodgy, the linkage is loose or you cannae change gear its gonna be worse.

But get that limiter upped. 7krpm will be fine, you won't damage it at these revs. I take it Ben is sorting it out? Jimbos old one used to rev to 7grand maybe 7500rpm, I cannae mind.

I dunno my 0-100 but its not as good as my old hatch, I also have the prob of doing a 0-100 run.

I need a passenger to hold the camera for me.

See the vid I put on RSC the night time 0-60, it was nigh on 70 ish speedo at 8 ish secs and that was with a fair bit of wheel spin in the wet. When I get the toyos on the front hopefully that will help or blow the diff circlip.

In the Chamade an average of 6 runs down a straight flat newly resurfaced road using a G-Tech performance metre was 7.6 (pics to proove)

I have to side with Jonnyboy here - I don't think that anyone will have actually achived a sub 7sec run in a practically standard valver if they were tested using proper equiptment on a totaly flat level road. I'll offer a free run down York drag strip to anyone who wants to come and proove me wrong though.

Cordoba does it in 7.8sec but the 30 - 100 time is better then the valver (I forget what it is now) as 1st is a bit crap to be honest but 2nd is good for 65mph and 3rd good for 105. I've raced a Clio valver side by side and I had caught up by 50 and had was a car length in front by 90ish (where he had to change into 4th) and by 110 I was a good foot or so in front.

i can only get 105 (on the clocks) in 4th gear!

right thats me fluffing the changes and hitting the limiter, trying to keep an eye on whats in front. But thats roughly 7.5 secs to 60 odd. Limiter in 2nd is meant to be around 67mph but without super accurate gear we can't tell so we shall take it as 60.

With a decent start, decent change thats an easy 0.5 sec off and if it wasn't goign up a slight incline might be even better.
