Ah so the PAS whiney POS finaly seems to have died on me and I now have lovley heavy lumpy steering.
Anyways, where's best to get a replacement pump? I checked Euro Carparts and they had one for £103. GSF don't seem to stock one for the Valver and they're dickheads anyway.
Any idea how much from Renault? Can you get re-con units or best to buy new?
Also how much will it cost to be fitted? Looked in haynes and doesn't seem too hard for a trained mechanic (i.e. not me)
Cheers. |

Think I'm gonna buy new just to be on the safe side.
Well I say lumpy, basicaly it's really stiff but has a tiny bit where it works.
I'm assuming it's the pump as it's been noisy forever and now it has pissed PAS fluid all over the altenator and the floor
This now means it's doutbful I'll be able to get the 2l Meggy BE that Chet has the head off |

Nah the bottom end doesn't come with the pump and anyways, what's cheaper, new pump or buying and fitting a 2l BE.
I did want to eventualy convert the car to a manual rack. Typical you get an idea in your head and it all fecks up
Also notice one of the rubber gaiters is leaking on the gearbox...leaking gearbox oil.
Geat week this has been:
Got a verbal warning at work
PC motherboard frys itself due to Creme Egg foil rapper getting sucked onto it
PAS pump goes
Split gearbox gaiter thing
Might stay at home tommorow... |

Oh right.
Well the box was fitted only about a month ago and I already had to top it up with 800ml of gearbox oil.
It's a whiney box too so no doubt that'll be fecked next.
The guy who fitted it has a 1.6 16v Meggy box spare, will that fit?
Also notice some play at the bottom of the steering colum, where the rubber gaiter is in the foot well. That a linkage or something? :/ |
