hi can any1 help me,was driving my clio 16v and all of a sudden lost drive ,got car home jacked it up and noticed with car in gear that the left drive shaft was able spin freely while the right stayed still,can any1 tell me whats wrong or should i just change the drive shaft??thanks |

Popped circlip from the sounds of it!
You need a new circlip and washer from Renault (not expensive) and someone who knows their way round a car to replace them!
You'll find once it's popped once it'll do it again and more frequently, the only real solution then is new gearbox. |

Also been there, done that, diff circlip went on my 19, i swapped it out, lasted a couple of weeks, popped again, swapped it out, lasted a few miles, swapped it out once more and lasted less than a mile, new gearbox was the only way i could sort it |

3 times I swapped one since then it done about 100 miles of me kicking the arse out of it to pop it wehich it never did then i cut the car up.
So sometimes it can be fine again.
docs circlip had worked its way round and was ready to go when we had the engine out, moved it and it shoudl be fine. |
