i have a h reg gts-x r19 with an energy engine its been running ok for years but lately when i start the car from cold it sounds like there is no oil getting to the head, it rattles like made for about ten mins and then smooths out, but when i go above 60mph it sound really really dry and noisy.
anyone got any ideas on what this might be
thanks |

well its best to see if theres oil gettign up the top I'd say.
When the take the oil filler cap off it should look oily inside, wet with oil, not just sludgy etc. If its dry then theres a prob with the oil reaching the head. With the engine running and taking the oil cap off you should see oil splashing about inside the cover.
If you don't see any or much then theres a prob with oil getting to the head, the oil gets up to the head around the middle front head bolt then passes into the cam bearing then into the rocker shaft. The holes are not very big so old sludgy crappy oil and neglected changes can block the holes but if cheap opil filters have been used they may have ruptured and theres a bit of paper filter element floating about blocking things.
Other than that it may be the oil pump itself has a stuck pressure release valve. |
