Why not an RN? I can't really spot the difference between that and the RT apart from not all RNs have sunroofs.

i've still got my laguna 1 ph2
W reg (2000) 1.6 16v RT, 37,000 miles on the clock, comfy and reliable, returns about 35 mpg, not the quickest car going but will sit quite happily at a ton on the motorways
its quite odd, the car is incredibly good yet i hardly drive it, because of having the 19 sitting there begging to be ragged about lol

bleh @ chris h lol
and tbh, if i had never owned/driven it i would have said exactly the same as Chris, don't bother with the 1.6
But i really cant find anything wrong with mine what so ever, drop the clutch and it will quite happily wheel spin away for a good 50 yds heh (prolly due to the crap tyres i got on it at the mo thou) |

lol but i am not trying to sell it at the mo and its not how i usually drive it.
TBH the car is great, its inconspicious, its reliable, its comfy, it has a HUGE load space (i can fit a r19 door in there easily)

I really ought to drive it more often and save some mileage on the 19 |

Thats on the East coast up from Leeds, going to Swindon from where lindsey is just over double the distance i did so yes, i reckon it would top £400 to go pick it up |

Hi Guys. Well Mr H, I listened to everything you advised and completely ignored most of it in the end *hides*.
I went to look at a Laguna today, it's P reg (got same infra-red as 19 had so don't think it needs the code from Renault if it goes wrong), bodywork is mint, full service history, mileage a bit higher than I would have liked (156k), good colour (blue) and the strut mounts have been done already. It drives spot on too, no clutch, gearbox or engine problems. I'll be it's 3rd owner.
It's a 1.8 RN (spotted some more differences between RN and RT but I can live without a sunroof and electric mirrors. Black bumpers don't look too bad on a navy car anyway).
1.8 is powerful enough for me bearing in mind my nearest motorway is the other side of Perth
Thanks for all your help and advice, it is much appreciated. PM me a quote to do the cambelt and service when you have time please.
