Hello people
Ive got a ph1 1916v
Im having problems with misfiring
ive fitted new plugs when i was changing them i noticed that the old plugs had oil on them when the new plugs were in car ran fine for a week or so then the problem returns.
When i take the plugs out and clean them up and put them back in it runs fine again then they get oil and water on them and it starts to misfire again and looses power anyone had this problem before?
my mate recons its the head gasket/pison rings
any ideas people? |

Rocker cover gasket, should cost less than a tenner. Really easy to fit |

It might not be the rocker cover.....surely that would only let oil into the plug wells.
If you mean oil on the tips inside the chamber and not the HT lead end it could be a faulty sensor causing it to run rich? Could be piston rings but I think you might just have noticed a bit of smoke from the car if it was that.... |

ok, oil sitting on top of plugs...how would you get them without the oil running all over them in the process? |

Well whenever I've spilt oil or found water in the plug wells I soak it all up with some kitchen roll on a screwdriver to stop the crap getting in the bores. If he's taking the plugs out before checking whats in the wells then yeah you get crap on the tips, but why someone wouldn't soak up as much of that shite as possible first I'll never know. |

Yeah it is the rocker cover gasket i found a split in it in corner??
ill stick a knew one on it the oil is all over the plugs top and bottom almost impossible to tell which way it came from but i came to the conclusion that the oil was siting in the plug wells and when i take the plugs out then it gets on the tips.Ive taken them out and cleaned them off 3 or four times. lol i used a screwdiver and kitchen roll to clean the shite out aswell. car does smoke but only at really high revs im hoping its the gasket .
cheers people
also my mate aint a fucking idiot he did the best with the clues we had hes an idiot sure but not a fucking idiot . he works for bmw as a mechanic |

Who cares if your mate is a fucking idiot or not?
None of us actually know him so why get upset at someone saying it? |

Still charge you a nice premium to "diagnose" the probelm even though you go in and tell them what it is. |

Would be great if all mechanics across the land were clones of Chris H.
*Man with problem on his car*
Hi, have a problem. Got oil on my the top of my spark plugs and in the wells. My mate had a look at it and reckons it might be the headgasket.
