yes the td head will go. radweld won;t do much, might buy you a short amount of time and a heater than no longer works etc.

schakal its fine, you shoudl have waited until the fan stopped before turnign the engine off though!

I'm scottish and it's July....don't need the heater til um about November Wink Will stop and get some radweld (or similar) in the morning on the way to work. Will try and stop at the Scrapper on the way home see if any of the TDs still have an engine. Don't know when I'll get a chance to do anything with it, wee man's home from school for another fortnight on Saturday. Just need to try and keep it going until I can do something about it.

Well my life stinks! Driving to work this morning - late (slept in, then had to make sure bastard car was filled up with water). Almost there and the red light comes on, pull into the first parking place available and the pressure cap has disintigrated (pics later)! Car now won't start! It's turning but just not quite catching. Is it completely fooked?

probably.

if the cap broke up then the pressure must be silly high so either hg's gone or theres a meaty crack in something.

Would it be a complete waste of time and money to still try the wondarweld? How can I get it started?

It's not starting and the battery is starting to go flat! I've left it at work Sad Can't do anything now til Monday coz work car park is locked up over the weekend. Getting a smell like bad exhaust fumes from the coolant bottle when I try to start it. Dunno what to do now! Can't afford another car and can't afford not to have a car.

i just seen that air bubbles on chamades expansion tank today after a rather long trip when i parked the car .
but it never over heated or anything ,most of the time the neddle sat on 1st notch (the 1st notch after the 2 together at the bottom)
and went between the 1st and 2nd notches now and again due to sitting at traffic etc.
also noticed the fan working as i parked up and the aux water pump running .
any problem there ?

like Chris H said, thats fine.

The aux pump is meant to come on when the ignition is switched off and will run for about 8 minutes. (the aux pump does not run when ignition is on)
The fan will also operate independent of the ignition if the temp is high enough to activate it.
