Ok.....time to post something.
Not much has happened yet but will happen as soon as i get some money.
I got my brother to have a look at the engine because of the rough idle, lots of fuel consumption etc....engine not working right at all Confused

Anyway, it took him 5 minutes to figure out what was at least a big part of my problem.
The fecking engine wasn't grounded Shocked Embarassed
The wire had torn apart propably due to the engine shaking always a bit.
Will have to see over the next few days whether this was all it needed to run good Wink

Ok, i read all the articles now Wink
Just curious....what can occur when the engine is not grounded?

Also, is there a relay for the coolant fan motor? (mine does not cut in even at high temp) Confused
I know there is a fuse for it and thats working fine....
Or is my only chance to find out if its dead or alive by connecting it straight to 12V ?

it won't run
it won't right
performance will be lacking
mpg will go up
strange running faults will occur.

No relay. Test the fan and so on by unplugging the can switch and briding it with a wire, if the fan comes on then the thermostatic switch int he rads not working.

I just bought new battery terminals today. Im gonna change them today. I removed the screw downs yesterday and noticed how much crap they really are......No wonder the starting of the car is fcked. Also bought new spark plugs, Bosch Super 4's. Hopefully my car will be running fine after this Wink

I had a 15 year old battery that finally died last year, it was a sad tale.

Also the bosch super 4's, I hope your going to throw them in the bin as they are utter crap.

I have not installed them yet, only unwrapped one of them. It was what the shop gave me for this car. I noticed when checking the plugs yesterday, i took one out and it said Bosch Super. Do those 4's suck any more than the ones in it? Wink

if you read my ignition article I explain fully why multi electrode plugs are crap.

I wouldn't waste my time of money putting super 4's anywhere near my engine.

Sorry Chris.
Im just so stupid to ask only for "plugs for Renault 19 RT 1.8 '95"
And if this is the sales man gives me, i guess they should work.
Thats just the newbie me.....dont shoot me for it

they will work but the plugs are not the best for power, economy or starting either. They are simply for a longer plug service life.

Like Soneji said he bought some, then I gave him some rather old single electrode NGK's, his idle smoothed out and the car picked up a lot better, the super 4's were only about 500 miles pold at the time.

Well well well.....
I decided to buy the parts i needed for the RT, finally.
Also i took this project to another level. I bought another car, which im gonna use as a spare parts car Cool
This one is a R19 1.4e RN Laughing
It also was an insurance write off car, but happily for me it was fcked on the other side than the previous RT. Wink
So here is the latest in my collection:

As you can see its dented on the other corner, so im gonna take the parts off the RN i need for the RT.
Its kind of amazing i got so lucky to stumble upon this one. There has been no other damaged R19 since i bought mine in late november.
And then suddenly there appears a car that has ALL the parts i need for the RT car and best of all.....IN THE SAME COLOR Shocked

So this weekend will go into puzzeling these two together into a great RT.
Both of my cars have only 84.000 miles and are both 09/95 Smile
What do you guys think of the new car? Rolling Eyes

The other one is 1.8, after being driving that one for couple of months now and test driving the 1.4 tonight, i noticed a clear difference in power. Sounded like the 1.4 was a tin can vs the 1.8.
Maybe the 1.4 is not in 100% order but still.....
