Well now I have the Clio all that I need to do before I can start enjoying it properly is get it an MOT.

As Chris's report stated, the car's rear jacking points have collapsed and need grinding down to flat and then new plates welding in.

So I dropped it off at Brian's not an hour ago for the work to be done and an MOT test.

Also the auxiliary fuel pump needs attention. It was a swine in Scotland, however it appears to have worsened in that it whines all the time now, and that was even after filling up on £7 of fuel.

I'm not sure what's happening exactly, Chris said something along the lines of the pump swelling and leaking fuel out. Question

Anyway the main thing is it's in the garage now and when it comes out it will be roadworthy and MOT'd. Smile

Also, needle on fuel guage doesn't rise even after filling up, am assuming the fuel is more or less leaking straight out onto the floor! Sad

No I'm sure it's the pump, Chris was already aware it was faulty.

Well contrary to my last post the car is now MOT'd but no work has been carried out.

Gonna see if he can do the work tomorrow.

Contrary to the last post the car isn't even MOT'd. My Dad spoke to Brian and made it sound like the car was condemned across the board.

However as usual my Dad was exaggerating, but the car did fail on the following:

Rear brakes poor effort
Leaking fuel pump
Holed sills

Brian has agreed to carry out the welding, rip out the leaking fuel pump on the tank and replace with an in-line filter and sort the brakes for a grand total of £100 including cost of MOT.....bit of a result!

Spent the whole day thinking I wouldn't be able to afford the repairs for the MOT and would have to scrap the car or in a best case scenario break the car and transplant the engine into the 19.

Agreed on both counts. Braking in the Clio is much more reassuring than the 19!

Well the Clio will be back with me at the weekend.

The fuel filter should have arrived today but alas it didn't which has held things up as the welding obviously can't be done until the fuel leak has been sorted (for obvious reasons!)

Cannae wait!

Also, in the process of obtaining the missing documentation.

The reason I don't have it is because the bloke I bought the car from had only had the car a few days himself and didn't bank on selling the car on so soon after getting it!

He says he's sent the paperwork on to me but as yet no sign of it so I've e-mailed him to see what's going on.

If no joy I'll be ringing the DVLA to see what I need to do. As it's the first car I've bought for myself I've no idea what pieces of paper I need so it will surely be a learning experience!
