I see you’re faffing with the phase 1 style thermostat housing and that stupid press in coolant pipe, which has gone rusty. Don’t bother. Just pull that pipe out of the head, throw it away and get hold of a later phase 2 thermostat housing, much better arrangement.

does anyone know the exact dimensions, width wise, of a genuine renault bonnet? just tryint to determine if my bonnet is genuine renault, as i think the gaps where it meets the wings are a little wide? only asking as i am going over the car with a fine toothcomd to see what it is like bodywise under a "microscope".... cheers guys!

I have yet to see a pattern bonnet.

pattern stuff is rarely used as bolt on bits are so cheap.

bonnet gaps are pretty wide, about 8mm standard.

update! got the braided brake hoses now! oh, and also won on ebay, some spax suspension for the fronts, i think i'm almost done now for bits now, i think the rear disc's and bearings will be it, then its all systems go for the engine to come out, have to discuss with Pops which way round to do things, like all the brakes, suspension, etc, etc, or engine first.....

okey dokey....... website is underway and i must admit, its looking pretttttttty god damn good, i will of course continue to post in here if people want to just continue following here, but its an easy place to post and view pics all in one go. and i am going to FCS so it will be good to see people, not that i will know what you will all look like of course... Laughing

will be working on the interior for a while now as Dad is off to Oz for a while, gives me time to concentrate on sprucing the interior up! including ripping out the dashboard which will be enormous fun i bet!!

well i now have a leather interior! my long quest for a mint condition one has at last come to an end! i dont really consider it to be mint, but its as near as i think i am gonna get! and it came out of a car that had only done 58K so many thanks to Steve of Basingstoke! just gotta give it a clean up and it should be lovely!!

so as my work car is going in to be mended from wednesday morning it will be work work work on XIX's interior, so out will come the old seats along with the carpet, which will get a thorough good clean, and in will go the "new" seats!

well pleased with the seats Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Very Happy Very Happy

if anyone knows anyone who wants the old seats, maybe for an old standard 19, for free, just say or i will just scrap them!

can i ask for anyones number so i can chat on phone to them about this brake conversion? need to know everything i need, what to do, etc, but its not for right this minute, maybe a little later in year? also, i was reading other topics and i saw something about resetting the ECU especially if the battery is disconnected. i have never reset this, but have often disconnected the battery, could this be the reason for it idling a little roughly? if so, how is the ECU reset?

cheers guys! Laughing

dont worry about your ECU if you have had no need to reset it in the past.

also if you are removing the dashboard, change out the heater matrix at the same time, will save you a job in the future as the damn things tend to leak / give up working (like mine, freezing cold in the winter lol)

i was thinking exactly that Neo, as i got the heater matrix hoses off ebay, as they were new, now just looking for a brand new matrix for peanuts, as one went for £5 not long ago on ebay, and i missed it!!!! D'oh!
