preparing the replacement column

rubber boot off old column, ignition switch off old column and onto the new one

dont forget to tie wrap the boot, done with one of my companys tiewraps lol

right new rack into the engine bay, left it loose so i can get the column in and line it up

So, sorry to ask a daft question, but what devices(s) are you using to get the blue hatch that high in the air? Could used that height when trying to sort me exhaust! My trolley jack only lifts the car off the floor by about a foot maybe I'd say

But it's nowhere near the car lol, so how is that holding it up? Surely front bumper would just crumple too when you tried to lift it. I think it's just levetating

Maybe the front of the car is so light, that when you take the engine out, it just rises up like that?

OR......maybe si needs some sleep........and less drink Rolling Eyes

I know axle stands are holding it up now, but how did it get that high? Just looks too high for a jack to lift like. I think it's just an optical illusion......looks higher than when nromally jacked up cuz of the angle of the pic and no wheels on the car etc

jacked it up that high with a trolly jack Si.

too much stuff under the car that could get damaged if you attempted to lift it with a fork truck!
the fork truck was used only to get the engine out.

right todays work:

time to get the engine out of the white hatch.

the easy way to jack up a car

and because my axle stands are under the ph2 . .

spare wheels do come in very handy lol

and the white hatch is now without its engine

the rest of the afternoon was spent stripping anything useful off of the ph1 as its going to the scrap yard tomorrow.

and i've also whacked on the brand new cambelt, tensioner pully and idle pully onto the engine from the ph1, almost ready to go into the ph2

meaning i have put the NEW cambelt, NEW idle pully and NEW tensioner pully onto the engine that came out of the ph1. hehe

so what am i meant to do then?


risk an old set thats already on the engine that was changed out god knows when (the cambelt was changed however when i bought the white hatch) or risk a new one, i think i would rather go with the new ones and trust that the last one was just a dodgy one.

if hes scrapping it i may well take it off his hands*, as i have got 2 engines, just need a gearbox, and im away!

what are you doing with the front arch liners, mine got nicked from work Rolling Eyes also the drivers seat cloth or leather? good cond?

its now scrapped, needed the room, front bumper was cracked anyway Doc.
seats were in poor condition, i've stripped it of anything useful before scrapping it this morning.
