trust me it will be worth it, mine failed miserably on its mot, was in tears on my way home with it, just tinking how much i had put into it, effort, money, etc etc

i had the same feelings of breaking it, scrapping it etc etc: http://www.retro-renault.com/viewtopic.php?t=3551&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=84 and if you look on the 3rd page you can see all the work i had done!

Ive got a largish garage here, but I cant bloody use it because theres a fucked old mk2 escort in there.

I asked the owners if I could get rid of it to use the garage and they told me I could sell it. "OK" says I, "Ill see what I can get for it"

"We want at least £500" say the doddery old coffin dodgers, because "the engine is worth a lot of money"

Hmm OK then. Evil or Very Mad

So anyway Trancer... I think you need to have a few days to think it over, then at the weekend give the car a good thorough going over, making a list of all the things wrong with it. Then another couple of days to make your decision if youre going to cut your losses or bring it back up to scratch.

i swapped my respray with a 15" sub lol, i bought the paint off of the place i worked for 39.18 for a full litre, but i added in my own pearl colours hehe, i of course supplied my own thinners, hardener, primer, and lacquer Wink

and then, to really take the biscuit, the engine siezed about 2 weeks after the mot was achieved.

well taday i got that hole welded up and undersealed, i also went along the iner sill with a wire brush to clean it up, after that went on the underseal, i also checked the rack again and its seems that the gator is full of PAS fluid, its sloshing around inside so i will be getting that off as soon as i have a replacment, i took the exaust off for inspection, on taking the downpipe off one of the bolts to the outlet manifold broke off so i will need a replacment, the back box is ok but the centre section is more holy than a church, and the cat is fooked, so now in need that aswell, im on the lookout for an engine so i can rebuild it for the car by next summer, im not sure how much life this one has left 128k on the clock Confused

well the engine runs nice, the car must have had a service not so long ago, its got new plugs oil filter air filter and oil change, clutch feels good to but there is no evedance that its been changed, as chris said as long as its been looked after then it should be fine, its in good hands now so it should last a bit longer.

underseal cracks as it dries and water gets trapped under it rotting the metal away. Paint doesn't really.
