ok 2 day after passing mot and 1 day after getting pulled by coppers, my fecking brakes went tonight coming home from work BIG bang!! then no brakes, the rear left caliper carrier snapped in half i assume a bolt come loose and then the caririer hit the wheel now its in half sooooooo my question
i first thought about geting the carrier off the front of an ordinary 19 as they bendix disk brakes on the front off that but from disusion they different size
soooo i gotta find a rear 16v caliper carrrier off a 19 16v
what about clios 16v they should be the same shouldnt they ??
also the bolts that held them on obviously i didnt fit them on tight enough i did notice the thread was bit crap on one when doing them up a week ago do hope the thread on the cappipers not wankered tooo
now i gotta paint a whole new carrier lol
should i order new bolts from ren or will old ones from what ever i get carirer from do (this time with lock tight lol ) |

yeah u posted it late...so noone prolly saw it then and its early now...well it was...
freaky incident btw...
if the threads are a bit knackered on the bolts, get new ones...i would assume the clio rear calipers are the same...but never assume anything!
cos you make an ass out of u and me |

You only recently replaced the discs and pads at the rear - did someone forget to tighten the nuts up proprely? |

noooooooooooooooooooooooooo nothing ever goes right now im depressed drove 40 miles for a new caliper and cariier for 20 notes now i gotta go get another one
the holes that you bolt the carriers on to in the calipers , the threads have gone on both of the calipers on both top holes on both sides at the rear
no fecking point re threading for 20 notes a caliper, now gotta borrow are car or somefink and go get another one |

its not the MOT stations fault, nothing to do with them. You can drive out and the car can collapse, still doesn't matter.
Anyway, the carrier where it bolts into the caliper has came away? Never heard of that happening.
Anyway the rear calipers on the GTT, clio 16V, megane and 19 16V are all the same. Anyway if the threards are fecked then get new ones, they may not take them in on surcharge btw.
The slider plate is available from halfords and renault.
Rear caliper change is easy peasy, hard bit may be unscrewing the union. Wire brush it then wd-40 it. Get a proper brake pipe spanner and maybe get the blowtorch out to. |

you mean where the green metal pipe goes into the caliper ? union ?
i getting them 20 pound a piece from a scrapy and ill bloody take them back if they dont work
they are actually different brakes went through 2 19's till i found one with "similar" rear brakes to mine pissed him off as he was using a fork lift truck to move cars out the way so i could get to them decided on a 19 16v cabs rear calipers in the end only diff was it had securing style screws that go through the carrier oninto the out side pad mine never had that just two anti vibration clips on me phase 1 and the clios and phase 3 had a extra bit on the carrier i just decide defo no to them
yeah chris the cariir top bolt came off through vibration i guess do to the thread being a bit shafted the other side was the same, it came loose hit the wheel them emptyed me green stuff pads on the road somewhere near lynn then as a result had no hand brake or brakes at all - GEARS though was orfully fun at t junctions !
window down "get out the way im in a reno" i guess they just assume i have no brakes |

20 quid each for scrappy calipers, hmm new uns aren't much more.
The caliper is exactly the same the carrier is the different. the later ones had no T20 securing screws for the outer pad.
The extra bit your talking about will have been silver and biggish looking this is anti squeal stuff, your 19 had them at 1 point, they get binned cos their shite. |

bee 175bhp, easily upgradeable.
9k handles better I feel but the 900 T was the 1st car I really drove, couldn't see over the wheel but I moved it a good distance.
400 is ok. |

paint work looks a little old but i was seeing it in the dark and the bloke brought me 2 pints i think so i say yes quicker
im tempted as its the 2.0 16v turbo one and the full re build is a nice touch, i cant find much info on it though im told 0 - 60 in 9 secs thats a bit slow for 175 bhp aint it ? |

0-60 in 9 is a bit conservative, it will do it quicker. |
