Just to prove to the silly people that think the 16S DOES have a bonnet vent and that the F16 lump will NOT melt like some people on other forums seem to believe....

Whether its superfulilyous or not i reckon the F7P must benefit from every breath of air it can get after about an hours drivin its the bloody heater thats superflemoos Laughing

what other car do you know bombards u with hot wavy air when u open the bonnet, when theres nout wrong wi it! Laughing

well the fact is 99% of these cars are running with blocked waterways (exhaust valve seats waterways usually block first as they are the smallest and yet the most important)

rads that are down a few tubes bacause of rust blocking them (most I have seen on a valver is 6 non working tubes which is about half the rad)

Rads that are so full of mud and dead flies no air flows through them

Water pump thats are erodoed due to cavitation or just plain corrosion due to age old antifreeze thats turned acidic

Sticky thermostats

and so on.

The vent at speed will not let any air in due to aerodynamics, at best some ot air pumps out of it at rest.

Quick easy way to imporve underbonnet cooling is to remove the seal at the back of the engine bay. The prob is the heater starts pumping in oily smells.

The rain catcher acts as an air barrier anyway... its pointless.

still think a backward facing vent would be more use, like on a gte...more likely to get heat out when moving.

wouldnt air coming in the frt push it out u think? and what about the air rushing over it causin a bit of a vacuum..??

No it doesn't work like that, common sence!!!, the bonnet itself is smooth and its the lip at the rear of the vent that forces the air down into the engine bay. Which is stopped in its tracks with the rain catcher.... no flow after that really. It doesn't suck up... think of your sun roof when thats open you aren't getting sucked out your seat. That has a small defelctor granted but you are not going to be pulling air in or out of the engine.

but if u got openings at the front...and then rear facing openings to the rear...isnt that just like a tube? simply put.

if air isnt gettin in, whats the point in the rad being there?

I don't see what your saying. The rad gets blasted with incoming air as it is at the aerotone entrance.. and the airflow should do down under the car.

does it go down? what guides it down? i mean doesnt any of it go up over the engine? or would it if there was a suitable vent at the top?

Yes the "s" stands for soupape which is French for valve.
