looks like the meganes engine is shafted. 7k rpm in second gear, and the whole things cuts out with a bang. aa bloke sez theres compression on 3cyls but not on one pot. looking at valve and piston damage. im thinking valve float which then got collected by a piston, or a collets gone and dropped a valve. either way its buggered and its gunna cost big bucks. oh the joy...

thats a tad crap. You did say it was running crap though so it may have been something else matey.
Valve float doesn't tend to cause valve damage, they just get shoved back up.
The float rpm effectively limits engine speed anyway |

ok, well the heads off. heres the story;
the cause of the problem was the exhasut cam pulley bolt shearing off inside the thread, causign the pulley to become loose, and generally bugger things up.
the damage is 2 bent valves! woohoo. 2 zorst valves on cyl 2 are bent. the pistons r unscathed, bar 2 dings. getting jonboy on the case of sorting the head.

wats the best method of blocking off the EGR? i think ive damaged the gas pipe from the exhasut mani when i removed the head today. i take i would need to keep the valve fitted and wired up, but block of the exhaust gas connections at the manifold end, and the inlet end?

yuo could do that, or make a plate up so you actually remove the valve from the manifold |

yeah i was thinking of a small blanking plate, but then the wiring plug wud be left unconnected, so might cause an ECU fault?

they will go to 7krpm but they balancing from the factory is crap so they are a bit rough, however if you get em balanced much smoother. |
