Engine conversion questions and enquieries

Right basically i'm data collecting for my engine conversion and require a few things, if people could help me out or point me in the right direction it would be a massive help these are the things i would like /require
1. Engine diagrams for the 1.2 energy engine (rl versailles) and the 1.8 16 valve F7P engine either on paper or on CD Rom

2. Wiring Diagrams for both the above

3. A list of parts that i will need

4. A list of parts that would be beneficial

5. Anyone who can help me out who has parts and their condition in their posession that they would like to sell around the end of may time (ish) that i will need (already sorted the engine, engine struts and disc hubs)

6. Anything people can think of that i have missed off

3. Well new engine and its loom and ECU, it will plug straight in and run when you turn the key. But you also need exhaust, get the 16V fuel pump (higher pressure and more flow than the 1.2), 16V radiator, hoses if you don't have any (or if its a scrappy engine they always cut through the hoses), throttle cable etc

4. Get the 16V box as well, also 16V rear shockers, 16V front struts, brakes and driveshafts. No need to get rear discs unless you want the pose factor. Pop a new clutch in as well. Get a cambelt kit (belt idler and tensioner), maybe stick a new water pump on and a new thermostat. Fill with new gearbox oil, use ATF as its cheap and synth and does the job nicely.

5. Well if you have the engine etc you don't need much else.

6. Not really but this is a relatively easy job, its a days work really.

basically the car i have is a 1.2 williams replica and i am looking for a bit more power and can't afford the F7R lump Sad

i know that the car i have is mechanically sound and i have worked it out to be cheaper to convert the current one instead of finding a mint 16v

also diagrams etc are for the purposes of the guy fitting the engine and for me to be able to get all parts before hand so i can get everything i need

put engine in. Brown plug, plug that into where the brown plug came from the 1.2 engine. Turn key drive away.

Whos fitting it and how much? I'll beat the price.

whereabouts are you? Chris will do a fine job....or if you are to far away from him but closer to me...i'll do for an equally competitive price...

is the subframe required too? not got a price yet but i'll let you know when i do it's a friend who is doing it the car will be based in lincoln or sheffield when i do it

you dont need the subframe.

as chris said, engine/box, engine loom, rad/fan, driveshafts, exhaust system, fuel pump.

its a simple swap, then you just plug the loom in....no wiring needed

nice one! i was told that i would need the subframe but i know chris H and yourself have a v.strong reputation so i'll believe you on that front this is the list of things so far which i am going to get, i know some things are extra but would like you to see if i've missed anything or if things are jsut a waste of time bearing in mind i will be looking to tune up at a later stage (ie a year or so after)

why do you list the 'sump'? planning on buying an engine without one?

a lot of your list are ancillaries to the engine...i.e. you'll have them anyway

if i wanted 2 put a GT Turbo lump in a Renault Extra Van would i need to stick to the H-reg/thereabouts or could i get away with an P or S reg????

i could...but time at the moment is very limited due to a 100000000000000000 (ok, 10,000!) word dissertation that im doing

i have an allergy to the garages that developed in the last few years , apart from that i would like to watch and learn how its done rather than leaving my car at a garage and picking it up .

sump has a small hole in as it got caught with something while in the garage so got myself another one already, yeah i know a lot of stuff i will already have but cheapish stuff i may as well replace for new? correct me if i'm wrong
