Bad driving habits

Ok ive been reading a thread on OcUK about other drivers' habits which irritate you and thought we should have our own.

Ill start:

1) Letting people out from a junction. These days I often dont, because half the time I slow down, flash my lights to let them know im letting them out, but theyre looking in the other bloody direction and dont move! Fair enough If they have to cross my lane and join the other side of the road, but Im talking about people looking the other way when they're joining my side of the road. WHY??? Are they expecting the traffic that has just passed to stop and reverse? These ones get a swift hand gesture out the side window as i pass.

2) Mini roundabouts. If youre happily approaching a mini roundabout at 30mph, and you can see the road in all directions off the roundabout is totally clear, why bother braking at all? why?

3) Nervous brake light flashers. People randomly dabbing their brakes all the time for no apparent reason really fuck me right off.

4) Or cant be bothered to put them on in the first place, especially on roundabouts.

People who drive at 40mph in national speed limit areas then proceed to drive at 40mph through 30 zones as well

people who hog the middle lane of the motor way at 55mph..

plus on major roundabouts, people who decided that in the right hand lane they suddenly need to turn left.

and people who plant trees at the side of the road.

people who continually swap lanes in slow moving traffic - there's no point!

example - the other day driving home from work on the M8 the traffic was stop start in both lanes. I was in the outside lane and stayed there, there was a guy in front of me (in a BMW x5 - which is only to be expected really) who swapped between the lanes no less than 6 times if one lane seemed to be moving faster - by the time the traffic cleared he was 2 cars behind me Laughing

-women drivers (not being sexist, just factual) who dont look when swapping lanes on roundabouts/dual carriageways/motorways, and proceed to almost smash your beloved motor up, and the only reason they dont is because YOU sit on the horn...and all of a sudden they see you

-people that dont move over when you come up a slip lane and join a motorway/DC way

hah ive always thought about that one...

and related to the lettin out of junctions....it annoys me when i am waitin to come out of a junction, lookin at the approaching traffic waiting for a let--out...and a car just starts to slow down coming towards me, almost stops! THEN waves me out or flashes his lights impatiently as if i am bein thick and not moving!!

how the fuck am i supposed to know ur lettin me out if u dont flash or wave??

or they just speed up and shake their head...idiots...im not pyschic!

--- lanes at traffic lights...eg dual carriage way straight ahead and a third lane for ppl turning right....some stupid ppl for some reason when turning right have to swing their car left first into the straight ahead lane to then swing right around the junction...why? fuckin stupid, no need, erm hello, fast moving traffic approaching from behind goin straight ahead...some ppl are just so unaware.

also, this annoys me, maybe not everyone else, but ppl who the instant the car stops put handbrake on and put it into neutral...even just in slow moving traffic...everytime they slow to a halt....that annoys me...just wait on the brake ffs....dunno why it annoys me it just does...

im sure theres many more to come.

yep that does my nut too, especially at roundabouts where some people seem to think that they are obligated to stop whether there is something coming or not.

In response to that people who sit with their brake lights on in traffic really annoy me, they are so bright shining in your eyes - esp these fancy cars with led lights - only bothers me at night.

But having said that I get equally pissed off at folk who take ages to get moving because thay have to get into gear and take off the handbrake.

When I had my mini I had 6 additional spot lamps on the front and a 55w spot lamp on the back (as a reversing light but also wired separatley through a switch) so if anybody pissed me off from in front or behind they got blinded Laughing

Mini's are exempt from neddyness Very Happy

unless they have bodykits and huge wheels (by huge I mean 13 inch - that's huge for a mini!)

It's still around though - the guy who bought it is in Linlithgow (btwn Glasgow and Edinburgh) so still see it occasionally.

Maybe I'll stop him oneday and ask if he'll sell it back to me!

i hate:

1. OAPs with swish cars that cost a small fortune, and they drive them like bitches! 30mph all the way!

2. slow drivers

3. flashing someone to pull out from the junction (a nice gesture on my part) and they dont quite understand! so they stay there!! Evil or Very Mad

4. overtaking a car and finding there is a car coming towards me which is a good few hundred yards off, you pull back in in time after overtaking, and they STILL bloody insist on flashing you like you've done wrong! Evil or Very Mad

i could really go on...but for the best part, its women drivers and old drivers that piss me off the most
