I know the differences atleast in big lines of the phase ones and twos. But what is really the difference between phase 2 and 3?!
Thus far I found out this:
Headlights using 2x H1 instead of a H4 etc.
Dashboard is different (nice round dash instead of the less round phase 1 and 3 combination of the phase 2)
Possibility to get leather, ABS and Headrests in the back
Anyone know more?

i used to drive a 1999 make renault 19 with the bloody swoopy dash , comparing 2 different dashes ,i would prefer the old style one everyday .
swoopy dash just deosnot look right in a renault 19
and that ABS steering wheel looks very ordinary, i like the proper 16v steering wheel . |

LOL @ swoopy dash in here
Jonnyboy, But there are more valvers with the single component headlights then there are with the double component headlights in holland and even when i asked philips and osram for light for the specific type of car 16V, everywhere we looked said it needed H4 but when we searched for my specific number plate in the dutch car database we found out mine needed H1's |

Yup some of them do and some of them don't and i don't know why? The national car database says that 19 16v's need H4 lights which is quite weird if ya ask me cus when looking up my license plate in that same national db it gives a reply that i need H1 |

i believe (or have been led to believe) the p1 16vs used a h4 and a h1, so u had double full beams...whereas the p2 16v just had the h1s...or whatever they are...ie one for dipped, one for full.. |

White fogs instead of yellow?? Or was that a buyers choice?
|
Phase 2 cars from 1992 and early 1993 had yellow fogs. After that, Renault switched to white fogs. So the change to white fogs happened well before the Phase 3 was introduced. |

The French changed from yellow to white headlamps at the end of 1992 I think. In the headlamps it was just the bulb to change. The fogs had yellow glass so if you want to change to white you had to change the whole lamp. Mine car, Ph 2 from 1992, has yellow fogs. It was one of the first Ph 2's. |

Just been driving the car. My dash and swiches ect. are the same as the pic above - Ph 2 -.
Threw out the Ren steering wheel as it's only half real leather, sweaty thing. Got an Isotta D shape leather wheel I had in a Clio Baccara before ( the Clio leather wheel has some sort of varnish on it which wore off ). Not the same hub 19 - Clio.
Also got some Isotta ally pedal plates to replace the soggy rubber ones.
The wife's Peugeot 206 2.0l S16 has a good wheel and pedals as standard but the seats have little side support. Girls car. |

Are you interested in the differences between the various phase Energies or just the 16 valve?
I can tell you that in the UK/Ireland market, phase 2 Energies had 165/70 R13 wheels and tyres. Whereas Phase 3 cars had 175/65 R14. The wheel sizes may have been different in mainland Europe though. Another change was the upholstery, it was more luxurious in the phase 3. The phase 3 upholstery can be seen in one of the pics in this thread.
Even after the phase 3 came in, Renault still found time to make yet more changes to the spec. before the Megane was introduced. These cars could be called "phase 4" They were sold in 1996 and had Energy engines, rear disc brakes + ABS, different upholstery to the phase 3 and were badged "S" instead of RN, RT etc. |
