Got in the valver about half an hour ago to go home for lunch.
Lit a ciggy for the drive and started the car.
Drove approximately 10 metres before looking in the mirror to notice a 4 inch wide trail of fluid mysteriously following the car.
Opened the window to the unmistakeable smell of petrol!!!!
Decided to park up and investigate. (Never have I reverse parked that quick before)
Got out to see a trail from the parking space I was in tracing round a corner and to the new parking space.
Checked the engine bay to find a hose had split at the injector. Easy fix but I sh*t my pants royaly.
Lost 0.5 off the petrol guage in 3 car lengths!
Still shaking fromthe adrenaline now!!!
Will try to get a camera from work to take a piccy or two of the car park!
Jeez someones parked on the puddle! Good luck to em. |

No the pipe had split right at the base where it connects to the injector. Chopped off a cm or two and reattatched. Problem solved. Think I'll leave it for a while before trying to drive it again. |

Anyway all is well now and I just found another reason to give up smoking. |

haha similar thing happened on my old XR3i, hose split in the engine bay,
started it up and smelt a strong smell of petrol, popped the bonnet and it was pissing out over the exhaust manifold !!!!
good job it was on start up and not 100 miles into a journey with a red hot exhaust! |

Shite! It happened again this morning same pipe same place!
Think I might replace that tommorow. Anyone know where I can get a new pipe from?
It's the pipe that joins onto the far left of the injector rail. |

I have snipped and refitted that pipe so many times its no longer funny, im down to my last chance with the pipe now with no more 'slack' left to snip and refit. the prob with mine was the engine mounts being unclebucked, when i pulled away the engine would shake and rip the pipe a little every time untill pissssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!! STOP THE MOTOR!!!! the fuel ruined all my lovely engine paintwork |

it happened twice on mine, so a mate put some braided hose stuff around the pipe and taped it up, to stop it rubbing |
