Fuel coming from exhaust

Hi guys,

Tonight when i was waiting for the car to warm up, i noticed that it spat fuel drops from the exhaust. One drop every 10 seconds ca.
What can be sources of this ?
I got 3 month old plugs. But the dizzy cap, leads and rotor arm were not available at the time, they need special ordering Rolling Eyes

Is the cap, leads and rotor the source of this? Ie they need re-newing ?
Or can there be something else?

Ps. Its my R19 Ph2 RT 1.8 F3P Wink

Water surely. It would smell of fuel cuz it's just come out of the exhaust, but I'm sure it'll be just water

if its just when your starting the car from cold

it will be condensation.

put a little bowl underneath where it leaks and let some of the stuff collect ,that way you can find out what it actually is but as people allready said,its water .
i got a f3p and a F7P both does the same nothing to worry i have been told

condensation = moisture ?
Hmm, didnt smell the drops, just thought straight away it was fuel since i find it to be wasting a lot of fuel per km Rolling Eyes

Will check it out tomorrow.
But if it is fuel, then what? Wink

there is some water inside fuel as far as i know,thats what comes of the exhaust .i am sure hris h will be able to explain it better

but it cant possibly be fuel , as the your cat would sort it out

no it burns the unburnt fuel thats why it gets much hotter than the exhaust manifold does

Yeah, i noticed how hot it was last night. Was under the car tightening a cover that is above the cat due to rattling noise.
Managed to stick my hand to close to the cat and damn it was hot. Nearly burnt myself Embarassed

cat doesnt catch unburnt fuel and burnt it! or at least thats not its purpose...unburnt fuel will damage a cat...

water is a by product of combustion.

but its most likely just condensation.

Catalysers are lined with a material (catalyst, funny that) that binds all the pollutants in exhaust gases and converts them to less harmful derivatives.

If the fuel contains a high content of lead then the catalyst becomes 'poisoned' and wont work as effectively, if it all. Hence why unleaded fuels should be used on cars equipped with Cats.

Air is full of water.

That where the rain falls from.

Suck it through the engine blow it out the exhaust.

But if the exhaust is cold it rains inside.

Run air up to 300 bar in a diving cylinder fill compressor and see how much water you get.

Run air through your engine, compress it, burn fuel in it. the water is still there.
