Been fascinated with Golf's for a while, and was pondering over a MK3 GTi - 2.0 16v of course. My old man doesn't like Renaults (or at least he doesn't like me having Renault's) so he's been pimping Golf GTi's with incentives for a while now.
"It'll be more to insure Dad"
"Well, if you put me as the second driver I'll pay the difference" hint hint.
Anyway, heard they are good reliable cars but anything to look out for?
Not sure I want to part with the valver, I've grown to love her as my own (although everyone always asks me "how's BEN's vavler" grrr lol
Cheers

Golf's, had a mk2 8v and snapped the crank on it. Piece of crap took loads of work.
They are way over rated to be truthfull.
the 16V mk'2 are the best aside from the new ones.
engines are not great but not bad either.
i woudl stick with the rens.
Also they are not as reliable as everyone makes them out to be.
But a damn sight better than a polo! |

I like them, but they just seem so bland compared to the sexy bonnet vent of the valver. Hmmm, I don't know
Theres a Que forming for your valver ben, better fall in line! hehe
R19's seem to be going up in price - looking on the autotrader there arn't many decent priced ones so maybe I'll stick with the devil i know.

Saw a Corrado today... but these VW's don't half seem expensive for the money!
£2000+ for a N / P reg car with 100K+ seems far to much to me.
Been looking at a Seat Cordoba 3dr 2.0 16v - same engine as a Mk3 2.0 16v GTi golf but you can pick up a V reg one for £2000 with 42k on it - looks nice (not very mean from the front tho).
Hmmm!! |

VR6 is nice and smooth but its far from a performance engine
Even the brothers superchanged one is a bit crap, fast but dull |

P reg Corrado was local to me, was silly money - must have been one of the last the garage wanted near £5k for it.
You can get P reg R19 16v's too - there was one on ebay, and I've seen one local to me as well. Doesn't mean they are any newer - just sat around in a compound or on trade plates a while before being reigstered I suppose.
Agree with all the comments made on Golfs / Corrado's - its a nightmare - why do I like Renault 19's soo much!
The search continues |
