Been reading posts about that white valver that did a quarter mile in 13.7 seconds cuz it had throttle bodies, cams, chip, etc.......but where do you go to have stuff like that done? I've seen places where you can buy cams & chips etc, but never ever seen a place that does throttle body conversion things. I'd love to do something like that to my car, but it'll probably cost £8 million and not really be worth it. But was just wondering if there's places anyone knows of that offer mods like this......or if clever people are just building these mods themselves and they're not 'properly' available?

The usual suspects like prima racing, Hill power and K-tec would do it for you, but of course, they would want big dollar. Theres also Angelworks (BenR).

Half the point of engine conversions and things is doing it yourself though, IMO. Theres no pride to be had in being a chequebook modder and paying someone else to do things as far as im concerned. Whats the point in that?

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean Neal, would be really satisfying to do it meself, but surely you need quite a lot of skill to be able to modify an engine like that? Tools, garage facilities, etc........something that most people (including me!) don't have lol. So I think I'd have to whip me cheque book out I'm afraid. All I gotta do now is win the lottery Rolling Eyes

Dont need much in the way of facilities to put together a setup that works. Besides, improvisation (AKA bodging) is half the fun!

boding imo is a sign of a lazy man..

unless its a tempory fix..

do the job proper, or dont do it at all.

but then i also agree with neal there, get much more fun out of building the car your self.

take david for example, him running that 5 will give him much more 'pleasure',

then if he just went out and brought the car.

surely I don't wanna be revvin up to 7,250 rpm on 'bodged' cams, with a 'bodged' chip, and a 'bodged' set of throttle bodies now do I?! Laughing

But yeah I know what ya mean. I've tried to bodge many inventions to get me better & cooler airflow to the filter. Am still havin ideas about it........one day I'll have the ultimate idea, and when I do, I'll let you know lol

i would love to be able to do all this stuff myself, but i just dont have the resources, knowledge, tools or space to do it. to be honest my skills go as far as changing the battery. my car is currently at hillpower having stuff done which im sure a lot of the guys on here could do with their hands tied behind their back! but i'd be quite happy for angelworks/hillpower/k-tec etc cus i know they are trust worthy, one day when i win the lottery i'll have that 20 car garage with full ramps and tools.

that does look a mint set up, seen you post it on RSC

couple of questions about it, is that an F7P or F7R engine or another variant?

and how did you go about moving the distributor ?

and lastly the HT leads, dont you ever get problems with water going down the plug wells as you are not using the plastic covers on the rocker cover ?

Wow that looks lush. Yeah that was the kinda conversion I was originally asking about in this post. So how much did that entire conversion set you back? If you don't mind me asking of course? Very Happy

its runnign coilpacks, no need for a dizzy.

I have to say I am shocked at Bens shoddiness in regards to the ht leads, he should have the collars on there to prevent water getting down. And mk1 clios do get water in the wells with the bonnet vent.

Its an F7R (williams), also smaller rad etc for the TB's

HT leads are temporary. The 'proper' ones hadnt arrived when the car was due for collection so Bens Fiesta leads were used. lol.

Its due back with ben at some point for Angelworks Vernier pulleys, and the leads etc swapping!

I've driven it in the rain, and had it sat outside in the rain and no probs with water getting down them believe it or not! The bonnet vent doesnt have the proper rain cather or anything so any water just goes on the exhaust manifold.

As Chris says its an F7R with Megane head, and loads of custom bits and bobs including rad! Smile

As for price, well as it was Bens sort of first proper TB conversion he went halves on a lot of the custom parts, and he spent a lot of time on it, but it still cost a few £K. Very good fun though, and well over 200bhp on standard bottom end! Ben reckons with some bottom end work, and different cams theres another 20+bhp in it yet! Only problem then is the diff being too weak!
