This is Ross's 19 16v. The photos were taken in county Wexford last weekend.
And a final arty one

Yeah simonds, I see what you mean about looking American. It's probably due to the design of the houses and the "gated community" look and of course the great weather at the time!
About the exhausts, yeah I wasn't sure about them at all when I first saw them and neither was Ross. It is a pity that the previous owner cut into the bumper to accomodate them.
However, with the induction the combined sound is really nice, especially above the 4k mark. It sounds "Italian" to me.
Very unique sound and very different to all the Japcrap about the place here. |

Yep very nice, those Kahn wheels are the best for a 16v IMO. Wanted 'em for my 19, but were too dear for me at the time!
Exhaust looks just right actually, fills the cut out nicely. |

Those Khan RSRs were actually on a Rover 216 GTi when I bought it but I didn't think they suited it so I gave them to Ross and they do look much better on the 19.
What would you reckon to cutting an "n" shape around the two pipes and fitting a heatshield like on the MG ZS for example?
Something like this I mean:

I had the same exhaust on my hatch originally. When i got it, the cutout in the bumper was rough as a badger's arse. I did as youre suggesting and just cut it slightly bigger and neater in a sort of rectangular shape with rounded corners.
It looked better, but still a bit crap so I was also toying with the idea of making a little metal heatshield. You'd need to do a real nice job on the heatshield though or it would still look crap.
In the end I changed the exhaust and fitted an unmolested bumper |

as in not a hacksawed edged, vice jaw marked, poorly bent, wonky piece of sheet metal held on with self tappers
or sticky foil |

Lol yeah, do mint rear bumpers (especially in the colour you want) turn up often for the 19 though?
Unfortunately it was the previous owner that did that. Unless you're standing close though like from the perspective of the photo you can't see the cut.
The heatshield idea might work well but I'd say it'd be down the list of automotive priorities at the moment. |

The purpose of the heatshield like in the pic I posted would be to mask any rough edges or uneven lines. |
