can someone please show a diagram of how the aux belt runs, as im going to fit my new one tomorrow, and want to know how it runs first!
also, as its self tensioning, do i just put the new belt on and pull until the tensioner allows it on?
if not how do i untension it, i looked at the meggy's report and couldnt figure it out!
cheers |

yes self tensioning, the tensioner is tricky, needs a 10mm square key if you have one, if not then use a 3/8'ds short extension.
Righty from memory as I can't get a dialogies pics or anything up as they ain't working again. anticlockwise from the crank of the engine
crank - over idler - ac compressor - up to alt - down to aux tensioner - up to ps pump - down to water pump ander and round it back of the belt - then reound the crank. |

well chris, your spot on with the belt, but one problem with the tensioner, i cant evemn get a ratchet down there let alone a ratchet with a extension.
i cut the old belt off as i couldnt be arsed with faffing around with it, so fed the new belt round, am i right in believing it will untension? |

I use a 3/8 ratchet with a 2 inch extension on it, lower/jack the lump up to get to it. Or go buy a key for it.
The spring is very hard to compress, so your not getting the new belt on matey until you move that tensioner. |

the tensioners stiff mate you need to really turn it!
its not easy, make sure its on everywhere else and then slip it down over the tensioner, its tricky. |

you sure its seated right? If its a groove off it won;t go.
Did you compare the lengths? I know you cut the old one but compare them. |

yea i compared them, exactly the same, well looked it anyway. i ordered the belt whilst i was at part co,and i said its a 2001 clio 2.0 16v, with air con, but if hes given me the non a/c one it would be much too short no?
im boiling the kettle atm to pour it on the belt to stretch it a lil. |

right well its the right belt.
The belt goes OVER the top of the lower idler, the flat non ribbed side.
But liek I said make sure its pulled tight and it should slip on.
kettles not gonna work! |

well i had it all routed right, and as soon as it got hot water, it slipped straight on! took it out on a drive, just accelarating up to 70 and the arch liner lug snapped off and end result a mashed front of the front arch liner, so ive gotto fix that somehow, but thats an after lunch jobbie. |
