right i have a bit of a weird one here, i have just swapped engines (again) in my clio everything is turning over and is connected etc but it just wont start!
i have it down to a fuelling issue as fuel is not being fed to the injectors
i have independantly tested the injectors and the wiring feed to them which is reading the correct ohms quoted for each so i know they all work.
fuel is being fed to the rail from the pump fine with plenty of pressure but the fuel will only go as far as the regulator and only minimal will be sprayed out of the injectors as it is turned over. so far things that have been checked that are working are:
plugs
leads
dizzy and rotor arm
crank angle sensor
fuel pump
injectors
loom feed for the injectors
compression
then next thing i am going to try is the inlet manifold as i am unsure if some of the vaccum patways could be blocked, also i am changin over the knock sensor, cold start injector, temp sensors.
could this be right that if the vaccum system is not working right it cuuld cause there not to be enough pressure for the fuel to pass the regulator into the rail? (regulator checked as well)
i am totally out of ideas of what could be stopping fuel passing the regulator into the bottm half of the injector rail. any please would be helpful
this has really sumped |

the only thing that affects pressure to the injectors are the pump and regulator.
Assuming of course the fuel filters fine and the pipes are not crushed.
You say theres fuel up to the regulaotr, well the regulators the problem isn't it. |

but i dont see how 2 different regulators that we tried dont work, the fule was being fed fine to the rail when it was on the other engine this morning as i drove the car into the garage to swap it, can they just die like that or does it look like i have an underlieing problem? the pipes are fine as the feed is coming through with loads of fuel, obviously the return is dry as its not going through the rail |

what rail do you have?
theres 3 types, early metal one with the reg ontop of the rail, the later metal one with it in the end and the later plastic type.
i assume the middle of the 3?
If the fuel is there in the feed pipe then it shodul be goign into the rail. Unless its blocked.
Pull the feed line off and th eregulator and blow through the feed hole, it should be easy to blow through, if not there theres something blocking it. |

yes it can be blown through fine, so does this point to the regulator then? |

hmm, intresting, there shouldn't be any fuel through the return until the lumps fired. I would have though it would be open or a blockage.
You sure th eplugs ain;t wet?
You pulled the injectors and rail out to see if they squirt? |

have you had the injectors out in the rail, and then cranked to see if they are spraying? |

pressure is fine seen as on taking the feed back off the rail i could have done with an umbrella to stop me from being soaked! |

in exact quantities i'm not sure but there was more than enough to get round the rail and back to the return pipe as i let the pump prime without being on the rail
cranking for about 5 seconds about quarter of a litre through the feed pipe |

yes the plugs on the loom to the injectors were tested too and were also right as to what they are supposed to be |
