They had the new Focus ST on there, and they were showing a bit of ford's testing facility in essex, and as one of the tests for this new ST engine, it was running at it's maximum RPM for 4 WEEKS!! Yes you heard me right lol, FOUR WEEKS! They said that was the equivilant of doing 150,000 miles.........at maximum RPM! Amazing how it didn't blow up! Exhaust parts reached over 1,000 degrees C too. Pretty impressive stuff! |

castalysts will quite happily run at 800dgerees c, and thats on a regular car so imagine how hot the manifold is getting! |

I'd have a Focus RS or ST, or the old ST170 but they're the only Fords that I would have though. |

Personally I find both shapes extremely bland, but I'd have them both on the basis that they're excellent cars |

of course they did but as the duratec lumps dont produce much these are only 200bhp 40 bhp more than the st170 yest the same lump |

I paused the feed at this point and had a good look at the figures. From memory I this is was running around 5900 - 6200.
It also gave the coolant temperature on entry and exit, as you would imagine there was a large difference.
I think the reasons that engines normally blow up (or seize) when revved high for a long time is due to insufficient cooling or less than new components. This isn't a problem in a controlled environment.
Impressive none the less. |
