i've always said i dont care where we do the meet, have car will travel
if its in bonnie scotland i would prolly drive up friday night and grab a few hours kip en route so i would be there for sat morning.
now i do need at least 6 weeks notice cos this trip with petrol is gonna be costing me something like £200, could fly up to glasgow for cheaper but i love the idea of getting as many of RR members cars there as poss |

yeah cars r a must ...we are a car club after all....am gettin slightly excited
maybe scotland should just be the ben nevis thing then....so a lot of ppl dont have to travel all the way to scotland twice ie me. then anyone who doesnt make that can meet another time when we try and do one in england/wales/ireland.....
and ...am lovin the new years in ireland idea too!...look out chet! |

LOL!
i dont have to come past you thou, i could go A127, M25, M11, A14, A1, M62, M6 up to scotland if we are heading glasgow way.
wonder how many miles it is from urs to the meet (where ever that is)
would be quite a challange thou, like a mini gumball hahahaha

well its 330miles to carlisle from swansea, then another 90miles to glasgow
i'd imagine the detor to swansea from the north is about the same as that to you Neal. so a rough estimation would be 400/450 miles |

drive up u pussy, u can convoy with neal and me, we'll meet u at a services on the M1 or something or drive round to neals and come up with us, drive up with one of us and back down with the other.
M1 would be the easier way to go up the country cos it gives us the choice of east or west depending where in scotland we are meeting, i assume its gonna be near Chris so m1, m6 which takes us to the scottish borders and up to glasgow |

I do Southampton to Glasgow alot in my "very thirsty" 21t and i spend £50 one way, and thats using super unleaded aswell,
if anyone comes up the M40 to Birmingham id reckomend using the new toll, its only £3 and saves alot of time and there is a motorway services on it aswell,
Neo ....are you not better going on the M25, M40, Toll, M6 to Scotland ?, the way you are saying would take alot longer,
If Ben Nevis is the final choice then you should know it will take alot of hours to get to the summit, i do some hillwalking now and again and one of the hillwalking books i have says "Approx time, 7-9hrs" and that the grade is a "Strenuous hill walk", the distance from Achintee House (parking area) to the summit and back is 20km,
Quote from the book ...."For many, Ben Nevis represents a simple challenge - to climb to the highest summit in the land. At 1344m above sea level thats not a challenge that is easily met, or rewarded. It involves a long and tiresome toil up a rough track to a summit which on most days is shrouded in cloud. In summer you have to share your experiance with hundreds of others, and in winter the conditions are generally artic. More poeple die on Ben Nevis in winter than on any other mountain in Scotland"
...... so make sure you bring your warm kit lads ...and ladettes, if there's any |

The photo is abit blurred but the red line is the route, the start/finish point is the blue blur on the left edge (car park, Achintee house)
Ben Nevis ........
