if they park in the same spot every time then the park switch must be ok.
Someone has messed with the linkage.
Do they sweep the whole screen? How do they work? Does it got from rest left then back towards the rest position then over to the right and then back to rest? |

They work ok meaning the way they go, but if i stop them, they stop wherever on the screen they were when i put the lever to stop position (ie. dont go to home position), when i stop them there is a click in the relay btw. Also the first interval is continous, i thought it was supposed to sweep two times then stop for a few seconds? :S |

I would start with a new relay. Ytes the 1st click is meant to sweep then stop for about 10 seconds then sweep again. The second and 3rd settings are continous.
But the thing about them not returning to where they should is due to a faulty park switch. But the relay may be killing the power to the motor so it can't self park.
So start with a new relay. But you may find the heated rear window melted fuse damaged other stuff. |

car bits have to be second hand... then you know its been thoroughly run in and tested
Like when you buy a secondhand game from 'Game', its not secondhand its 'pre-owned'. I like that, connotations of having been tested for you |

indeed, but pre-owned games etc are usually scratched and covered in old cola.
Everything needs to be tested. Before you can have it. |

As i mentioned in another thread my idling was very strange. High and low on and on....until it cut out completely.
Anyway, i checked the first thing that came to mind (even though you guys advised on the CTS and lambda sensor ), and i took the distributor cap off to see the condition of it.
Least to say i think it has served its lifetime......
Two of four "metal-things-what-ever-they're-called" are just plain gone and the other two are rotting away nicely.
What do you guys think of the rotor, is the blade supposed to be longer?

they look fine to me. Caps a bit tired but its not worn down. They are machined like that as standard.
Arms fine as well aside from beign grubby.
new stuff though will improve it as they will probably be original. |

the rotor arm doesn;t touch the cap. Theres a gap of around 1,, between the rotor arm and cap.
If they touched they would break very quickly.
The reason the posts in the cap are flat is due to the plastic being molded over the posts, the cap is them machined to expose the brass posts.
The reason the posts get a build up is due to spark errosion. |

it sparks across the gap 'twixt the rotor and the cap as well as the spark plug. |
