Excellent matey, thanks muchly for that!
So there's no more space in the megane than the 19 in the area of the manifold, but *possibly* a bit more on the downpipe area.
Really need a pic of the 172 manifold and downpipe now to complete the picture... |

theres a tad more room at the back and I think there may be a tad more for the downpipe. |

the megane and 19 engines bays r exaclty the same, jsut the engine mount locations r different.
the 172 4-1 exhasut manfild sticks right out and goes thru the gap between the underside of the body and the subframe(up and over the rack). much like the laguna. dunno if that helps any.

Jimbo, you reckon the 172 manifold would fit in the 19 as-is then? |

not unless u remove a section of bulkhead..... i reckon ur best bet, wud be to fit a manifold from a IDE powered megane coupe 2litre 16v. same head design as 172, so the manifold shud be the same.

yes jimbo thats right so the bays different.
There smore space at ther back, the 1.6 hatch we have has a good bit more room at the back than the 19, the inlet manifold fits in no bother on a 19 I'm not so sure. |
