Typical!
First decent bit of snow we get in Essex this year is the day i am working on the car . .
Doing the diff circlip, took it all apart
went in for a warm up and coffee, come out and car is covered in snow lol.
Notice also it's in the process of being DeNedded! no black chequers on the back of the drivers side now and the passenger side the stickers have gone but still have some of the mess left to clean on it. |

well its not done yet, cos i stopped for the snow and rain.
90 mins tops (thats how long it took me last time)
remove airbox and airbox frame to get easier access to the bolts that hold the driveshaft gaitor on the diff housing, road wheel off, brake caliper off (hold it up by a bit of wire to the suspension spring), brake disc off.
Drain gearbox oil
Undo the three 13 mm bolts that hold the gaitor on.
Undo the 2 bolts that hold the stub axle to the suspension strut, yank it back and the drive shaft pops out.
remove old clips or bits of them as appropiate, put in new thrust washer, put in new circlip (handy hint for that, compress the circlip first, i squashed it together and held it closed with a bit of wire, circlip goes in first time then, much easier to compress it away from the car than trying to fit it in with circlip pliers, once it's in the groove, cut the wire and it springs out and snug fit )
Put everything back together, top up gearbox oil before refitting airbox and job done |
