I have the gasket.

£4.

I will try it, I need to re-paint my rocker cover anyway so if I can't do it and I wont attempt to if it feel I might mess it up then I might take you up on that offer.

nope, turn your engine so the no.8 valve is open to start, then check , adjust if necessary, to adjust them put the feeler guage inbetween the valve and the rocker, indo the nut, turn the screw to the feeler guage wont come out, then undo it slightly until the feeler guage will come out.

the order to do is:

OPEN---------------CHECK
8----------------------1

6----------------------3

4----------------------5

7----------------------2

1----------------------8

3----------------------6

5----------------------4

2-----------------------7

thats the order to check the tappets

open means watch no.8 valve go down then count across and do no.1 (check) make sure the clearence is good, and adjust if needbe, the move down the list.

who the hell uses 10 thou?

10thou is 0.4 mm thats where to set them to make them even louder and it run crapper than it already does.

If you don't know the right answer don't give a wrong one!

Inlets 0.1mm
Exhaust 0.25mm

THe rule of 9, ignore that crap, I just go left to right or right to left if I feel like a rebel! lol

turnb the engine over with an 18mm socket/spanner on the bottom pulley.

Watch the rocker, it will open the it will close again, look at the cam, when the heel (the round bit opposite the pointy bit) is on the rocker pad thats when you adjust the clearence.

Measure between the valve tip amnd the rocker. You need an 11mm spanner to loosen the lock nut.

your right, I'm being a spas.

40 thou is 1mm

No one works in inches anymore and I personnaly never have worked with inches, hate them.

Some one says I need a 7/8ths round bar reduced to 5/16ths wtf does that mean! I can't picture it in my head.

If you say 25mm reduced to 14mm I can go look and pick it up no bother.
