oky dokies , took the car out for a spin in the morning filled the tank and gone up to 60-70mph i had this excessice shaking on the steering wheel . anyway warmed up the car and took it to the test
took him 40minutes to do the test , the result is not too bad i suppose
-nearside front ball joint (he said its totally knackard )tenner or so easy job
-front brake discs scored and his point is? scoring is not a failure, only iof the brakes don't meet the req'd min effort
-handbrake low effort (needs adjusting )this guys a fucking retard
-viper blades split (my ass) 6 quid from the factors
all in all ,he quoted me 100quid + vat for the work to be done in that garage, and i got 2 weeks to sort everything out
what i cant understand is that all these parts ,discs ,ball joint, viper blades cost about 75-80quid inc vat when i check on eurocarparts.com and he is willing to do the job for 100quid +vat all parts included |

and what do you think is wrong with the handbrake than ??? cause i thought the handbrake was good enough to hold the car comparing to my other car . |

if the handbrake holds the car its fine, did you watch him on the brake tester?
you can get away with 8 - 10 clicks ont he handbrake to pass.
ghow bad are the grooves in the discs? |

i watched him at all times ,but did not have a clue most of the time .
8-10 clicks for what ? is it when you pull the handbrake ????
the discs was looking like this a few months ago and the car has not been driven until today for 10mins ,assuming the discs would not melt they shall be in the same state now
but must also admit i was not impressed with the operation of the brakes when i pressed the pedal to slow down while driving with 70 mph ,but than again comparing this car with my 1.8rt would not be right i suppose |

16v should outbrake the rt by a good bit tbh.
8-10 clicks for the handbrake to be fully on.
if the pads and discs are worn might as well replace them anyway mate. |

well i would not mind having to change the discs and pads and what ever else is out there if need be ,but just dont want to pay money for unnecessary crap .
here are some fresh pics of the drivers disc, what the hell is scoring ??? the disc is thick as shit.
and the friction material on the pads have about 4mm thickness |

so what you are saying is to scrape the scoring off the discs i got to drive the car and do some harsh breaking action yeah ?
what if i use some wire brush drill attachment or a wire brush to get rid of all the crap on the discs ?? would it work ???
and if the discs are ok ,he obviously was talking of his ass which leaves me with a ball joint replacement ,rear pad change and the wipers which will half the cost down dramatically |

EDITED DUE TO CONFUSED JB SORRY FOR ALL THE INCONVINIENCE CAUSED
right here is plan B,
if i am changing any brake bits they will have to be changed all
i allready got pads for the rears athomeand also ordered the ferodos recommended by JB (ex jonyboy) all i need is a ball joint end and 2 discs to go with .
i can probably make wipers from old window seals ,that is sorted
my neighbour said he can source a good set of discs for the fronts for cheap and as a bonus he happens to have a ball joint seperator ,so i will do the whole job myself with a little help from my neighbour .
and take the car for a retest on monday ,job done hehehee |

Surprise surprise a 1916v got pulled up for its handbrake
BOTH my 1916v's got new cable's, both calipers replaced with new one's, new pads, and they still failed the MOT, and i was there when the tester done the brake tests, and he was right enough, it would barely light up the lights on the machine, i showed him reciepts and they even tried adjusting the brakes themselves but could not get them any better, and one of the garages was a Renault dealer aswell, but by this time i was not too bothered because id done everything that i could do, although later on i did manage to find a "sweet spot" on my white ph1 where the rear brakes where fookin evil |

Forgot to say, when the g/f's 2016v megane got its MOT in May, the garage failed the front discs, and its brakes where brilliant, nothing wrong at all, but they failed on scoring im sure it was, and he reckoned they where worn
Maybe MOT's are just getting tougher |

my handbrake is shit...it wontholdmy car on a decent slope unless i really hoik it up, but that just leads to breakin the cable...over the yrsof course, but a good strong pull, and it just slides...
anyway, who needs a handbrake when u got a gearbox. |
